Muchos proyectos, especialmente en sectores como la construcción, energía e infraestructuras, sufren retrasos a lo largo de su ejecución. Estos retrasos pueden deberse a múltiples factores, como problemas de suministro, cambios en el alcance, condiciones climáticas adversas o decisiones de los diferentes agentes involucrados.

Aunque en ocasiones se identifican claramente las causas, determinar el impacto real que han tenido sobre el cronograma del proyecto y atribuir responsabilidades objetivamente puede resultar extremadamente complejo. La dificultad para evaluar quién es responsable de cada retraso y cómo ha afectado a la finalización del proyecto se incrementa cuando el contrato es a precio cerrado y contempla penalizaciones económicas por incumplimiento de plazos.

En estos escenarios, contar con herramientas y metodologías rigurosas que permitan analizar los cronogramas de forma detallada se convierte en un elemento esencial para la gestión contractual y la resolución de disputas.
